REBIRTHING & ENERGY HEALING

Rebirthing is a gentle yet powerful process for self-awareness and personal growth. It has been called "one of the most effective ways to release repressed emotions." Psychologists have known for decades that repressing emotions can lead to mental illness and new research shows that it also contributes to physical pain and disease. But our culture has taught us to "not feel" what we feel, so we are often left with the residue of unresolved experiences and emotions that cause us to repeat dysfunctional patterns of behavior and not even know why. Rebirthing is a method that gets past our conditioned defense systems and helps us undo the negative effects of the past.

Feelings are an important part of our inner guidance system. But unresolved feelings clog the system and make it hard to hear the voice of our intuition. Also, many of our core beliefs about life were made when we were very young, and came out of difficult situations. In rebirthing, these core beliefs surface and we have a chance to reprogram our own consciousness. Since we attract what we hold in our consciousness, it is important to know what the old beliefs are and to consciously choose those that align with our intentions for life.

Rebirthing is a breathing technique using 'conscious connected breathing', positive affirmations, and the power of thought. Originally developed by Leonard Orr, the breathing technique has evolved and spread throughout the world. Rebirthing sessions with a Practitioner aim 'to facilitate positive change through working with the breath and taking responsibility for thoughts, feelings and actions.' The sessions will help to 'identify birth trauma, family patterns, inherited attitudes and specific negative thoughts.' The Practitioner aims to 'support the client in using the breath to ground themselves safely in their body during emotional, physical releases and spiritual insights.' This leads to encouragement to have the client use Rebirthing methods independently.' (Quoted text taken from British Rebirth Society leaflet)

Joseph Campbell said that we are "at this moment participating in one of The very greatest leaps of the human spirit - to a knowledge of our own deep inward mystery." As a tool to help us probe these mysteries and make that leap of spirit, rebirthing is invaluable. It teaches us through our own experience about moving past a way of living and breathing that is painful and constricted, and - as Rumi said - about finding that "breath of love that takes you all the way to infinity."

"Miracles are always affirmations of rebirth, which seem to go back but really go forward. They undo the past in the present, and thus release the future."
